Parenting changes during the college years … College students need parents, but a different kind of parenting. In fact, students parents is crucial. The student must negotiate the maturity in recent years, the years of liberation from adolescence to adults.

During college, students had questions, concerns and other challenges that create anxiety, or "leave the nest" syndrome. The guidance that parents provide their children during the years of college will help to address their concerns. Home is still their anchor.

Indeed parents college students, the student and parents can enjoy the benefits now and in the future.

One of my recommendations for moms and dads to encourage school year round. Parents should consider the benefits of attending summer school with students. The mere discussion keeps the child and parent connected. They decide together if it is something that will work for the family. This is a new idea. Sometimes the student has never seen benefits to remain on campus and connected to the life they have established.

When a student knows her parents are providing a little more light, are actually less anxious. As in the pre-school, feel safe. It is a great advantage to take a difficult class during the summer when not carrying a full course load. Then there is another bonus, if they do every summer to make progress towards graduation or graduate early time. If they graduate a semester early, the rewards can be that they use to travel this semester.

In reviewing a year of college about assist parents and students will realize that it is both a financial advantage and time management. The end result … This is a good use of time.

Students may prefer the option of going home for the summer and attend a local university. Here's another idea … get a part-time job. Students may get nostalgic and only need to be home for awhile. This is fine.

My point is, there must be some constructive activity during the summer. Taking courses at work or heavy use of time outdoors campus. Always keep your eyes on the goal – graduation.

A major advantage of this plan is students will have the option of teachers different. We can establish a teacher-student relationship more experience and success in summer school. This contributes to the GPA. It is also a great relief to get a tough course behind you.

Let's be honest, after the first weeks of the summer months are boring! The book value of time is wasted, and too Leisure exacerbates the tendency for parents to worry. Binge drinking refers late night parties and other reckless behaviors are severe.

When students return home for the summer, it is very important for parents and students to sit down and discuss the "rules of the house." The student has been independent for one school year complete, so expect different standards. Of course we want to preserve their independence, but parents should be comfortable with the schedule too. The relationship parent-child feeding and becomes stronger when there is good communication. So sit down – to talk. Do not wait until you are angry about it.

What we want is a young adult who is more open to listen to the advice of their parents. When a parent can discuss the benefits of going to school all year round in a language that students hear, students can make responsible decisions. If the student does not make good decisions, then as a parent, you must decide what they choose to fund.

When a child is in college, I think we always must be to build your resume. If they do volunteer work, practice or taking summer classes. Travel or any outdoor activity should be reflected in your resume. I also believe that everyone is happier when busy and productive. This does not mean you can have fun. For example, taking a difficult academic year during the summer, suggest that take a fun elective with him.

My advice? Do not dictate to students what they will do this summer. Just ask, "What are you doing this summer? Take summer school or work?"
